I've bought three recently....

<----- Needs to post up some pics for all the boys to enjoy. :)

I picked up a Winchester '92 Trapper Model in 38-40 with 15" factory barrel and two Winchester 250s in 22lr. I just got back from purchasing a Colt revo in 38-40 to go along with the '92. :D

Is it a registered SBR, or did you mean to say 16 1/4"?

If it is an old enough 92 it wouldn't need a tax stamp.

As for Lever guns I go Winchester, nothing like a nice 1886, in 45-90 or 50-110. It,s like having a 458 win mag, with 9 round capacity, and lever fastness! Winchester has made so many different lever type rifles, that it is hard not to look to them first for me. KurtM

I used to have a Marlin in 44mag but sold it. Wish I had it back. About ten years or so ago I bought a new Win Trapper in 44mag. Had Legendary Guns in AZ due a tune up on it and install a Williams receiver sight. Awesome carbine. Fun to shoot and accurate.

Winchester wrote the book on levers but in today's world, Marlin takes the cake. Winchester doesn't even make levers anymore. That's just wrong. Any before they quit making them, they farmed out the operations to Japan but still put their name on 'em. And that's just wrong too.

The cowboy action crowd runs levers harder than anyone else and Marlin seems to be the most popular choice in that environment.

Having said that, I pretty much like any lever, even the Italian copies. And I also agree that scopes on levers are, well, just not too pretty.
