The best thing you can do is buy about 5 boxes of different ammo and see which shoots best if you don't reload. That's what I did. I've found that 150 grain Hornady shot well and 168 grain Winchester match shot well. The shells aren't cheap, but you get a idea what shoots good in your rifle. What shoots good in one rifle may not shoot well in another rifle. That's why I like to reload.

The Federal Gold Medal Match loaded with the 168gr Sierra Match Kings are what I have found to be the best in an LR-308. I am an avid hand loader and have shot these along with my hand loads for comparison purposes. They seem to be highly accurate and very consistent.

Here are today's results. I think she likes it dirty. I did not clean her last night and it seams that even some of the ammo from yesterday grouped better. But it was less windy too.

if you look at my picture, that is the hand guard I am dealing with. Round and no holes at all, its all one piece.

This is what i use on my Hogue free float tubes. Little pricey, but it works great. It may work on your DPMS tube.
