I've always just used rem-oil for everything, but I'm starting to see a fair amount of wear on the slide rails of my Beretta 92 and on the inside of my AR upper receiver (looks almost borderline galling). I've seen some people recommend grease, does anyone have any suggestions? Is this normal after a couple thousand rounds?

I use grease on the serious moving parts. I would not recommend grease if you're expecting to be in a dusty or dirty environment.

2,000 rounds should not cause serious wear. I suspect your wear is to blued or coated parts and is not actual metal wear?

Remoil is a decent storage lube, but is too thin to stay in place. CLP, Slip2000, Frog Lube, Ballistol, Mobil 1 Sythentic, almost anything is better than Remoil.

ronny's right... as far as brands - everyone has their favorites or combination of...I got a good deal on a case of "Tetra" gun grease - no major complaints... only time ive had to get creative is in extreme hot or cold... I've shot matches when it was so hot we used dry teflon chain lubes designed for bike racing... lol

I really like Gun Butter for pistol lubrication. It is easy to apply to wear parts and stays in place where you put it. It comes in a very small bottle but a little goes a very long way. Unlike some oils, when you shoot it will not splatter and spread everywhere.
