Well, loading them beforehand just leaves more time at the range to waste in other non-productive ways.;)

Not pointing a finger at anybody, but when not having to load mags, one could sure help the ranges by picking up your trash and others trash, helping the ranges to not look like a trash dump.
Its amazing how many hours our volunteers spend going to the range to pick up others trash and never get to fire a shot when out there.

Nope, you can never have too many. They are like any other mechanical part, they can break when you don't expect them to. I always carry extra to a match. When any part of that magazine breaks, I have spare parts till I can get it fixed.

Well, crap. This is about guns. I thought it was about my collection of "Pregnant Hairy Asian Amputees". My bad.

I like gun magazines too.

Everyone has their arbitrary number(s),,,

Mine is 3 mags at a minimum for range toys,,,
I prefer to have 5 mags for serious guns.

I buy these nice pistol cases,,,
They have 4 slots for magazines,,,
So 4 in the slots and one in the pistol.

When you have so many mags you can't afford to load them all at once,,,
Then you probably have too many.

Magazines can be lost or damaged. They can be subject to stupid legislation which can make them expensive or hard to come by. Because of the combination of these two things, I don't think one can have too many, and I still pick up a few whenever I run across a deal on them.

I used to look at 5000 round cases of 22LR and wonder why I should stock up on it when I could just wander over to the local Walmart and buy them whenever I wanted. Now I know, and don't intend to see a similar situation with magazines for any of my guns.

If you have magazines for guns you don't own you have too many.

If you have a gun they function in. nope, can't have too many.

This is a personal choice just like getting a Glock instead of a 1911.

Or a 9mm instead of a .45acp.
