I have two lathes. Atlas and a belt driven south bend B9W with a 3.5’ bed I’m especially proud of.
It was bought at an estate auction, and was fully restored by me. 40’s time period.
Spent around 20 plus years in machine tool maintenance before moving to the power plant working on both mechanical and electronic so it was a fun project. Stripped it down to individual parts, removed all paint to bare metal and reassembled. I use the atlas for turning and keep the South Bend set up as a milling lathe with the original milling attachment as supplied by South Bend.
