That was the case in a car wreck that I had in college. I was going about 50 mph when I swerved to avoid an accident and took my car under an 18 wheel trailer. The engine didn't come into the cabin of the car, but instead started to crumple under the car. But even at 50 it didn't go very far, hard to believe it left the car and went over 100ft.

anybody know what a hellfire missile would do to a car?

The big difference between that and the Merc wreck is that the entire engine cradle came out, plus there was a second vehcile and not solid immovable object. However, I am really surprised to see that.

onklin was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest approximately 70 feet away from the snapped-off tree. The vehicles engine separated from the vehicle and came to rest on the sidewalk.

The SUV reportedly hit the tree so hard that the engine separated from the rest of the vehicle, which came to rest on a country road that runs next to the highway.

Hours before dying in a fiery car crash, award-winning journalist Michael Hastings sent an email to his colleagues, warning that federal authorities were interviewing his friends and that he needed to go "off the rada[r]" for a bit.

The email was sent around 1 p.m. on Monday, June 17. At 4:20 a.m. the following morning, Hastings died when his Mercedes, traveling at high speeds, smashed into a tree and caught on fire. He was 33.

Subject: FBI Investigation, re: NSA
Hey (redacted names) -- the Feds are interviewing my "close friends and associates." Perhaps if the authorities arrive "BuzzFeed GQ," er HQ, may be wise to immediately request legal counsel before any conversations or interviews about our news-gathering practices or related journalism issues.

Also: I'm onto a big story, and need to go off the rada[r] for a bit.

All the best, and hope to see you all soon.

Michael

SMS, you know me....I'm not one to adhear to any conspiricy theory's, but there is too much evidence out there, of consperitorial automobile accidents, later found to be true to totally dismiss this.
I'm still not totally convinced, but I know a person currently involved in crash investigations for a living, and they use the latest test instruments. I'll run this by him, and see how it fly's.
