4.2, 4.6 v6 or 5.4 v8 were the only engine options at that time. You won't be disappointed in any of the Ecoboosts.

Just to elaborate for readers.

4.2 was the V6
4.6 and 5.4 Were V8's

The 5.4 was a 2V were all good engines to me. The later 3 valve ones were crummy

Yes thanks got my v6 in the wrong spot.....and I wouldn't own either the 4.2 or 4.6 lol.

4x4, Off-Road Package, Max Tow.....she's heavy.
365 hp & 420 ft-lbs
Darn near all of that torque is low end.
It'll pull.
Love it.

Yes sir. That 4.6 was supposed to be pretty trouble free. Still..... we only bought 5.4L. The only motor issue I had was in the 2008 3v. I Loved the truck (totaled by a f250) the phasers and VVT’s were toast at about 150 k. It had no power and sounded horrible but went to almost 200k that way.but after 150k + who cares.
