I think its the cheap ammo I am shooting. BUT would anyone have any idea as to why a brand new build would be short stroking??? here is what I have.

12 inch free float quadrail

Standard Gas Tube

I am shooting Herters or wolf classic. I can't tell what it is by looking.

THanks.

What brand barrel and what is the port size? Check gas block alignment. Some guns just short stroke when new. Generously lube a new weapon before you shoot it and it's always a good idea to run first a batch of brass ammo through it first. Underpowered crap ammo could be likely. I've had steel cased not cycle properly when it gets close to freezing temps but cycled properly in the same gun on a warm day.

Does it have a rifle buffer? Looking at that A2 stock, I would bet it does.

Carbine gas system with a rifle length buffer shouldn't cause a problem, but....

If you have a buddy with a carbine buffer/lower/extension set up, you could swap lowers and see if she still short strokes.
