Where did you find the ammo cases? I have never seen ammo cases marked like that.

The 30 cal was purchased at an antique shop around the corner from my work. The side hinge 50 cal was purchased from an individual on Craigslist. He purchased four of them at Atwood's in Weatherford several years back. It looks like the can was repackaged at some point with the new ammo lot info painted on the left side.

I also have a modified Canco 30 cal. The handle has been shaved, a staple for a hasp style lock has been added, and the can has been painted a color similar to OD3. The consensus over on the CMP forums was that it was probably modified for use as a tool box on a Case tractor back in the day. Still a neat piece...
