To crimp or not to crimp will remain controversial.

I find that the Lee crimpers work well for me, but that others are very sensitive to case length, material thickness at the neck, moon phase, coreolis force, and other less well understood influences.

Additionally the Lee crimpers cost about 12 bucks. You can get custom ones for around $30, which I am about to do for my .338-06.

The only time I've seen in my limited AR experience was with a 100rd drum mag in my AR. They were factory loads, and the bullets were completely mashed into the case. In my friends' gun it worked fine and didn't ever do that. I don't crimp my reloads, and haven't had any issues.
