Errrr ... it's kinda difficult to tell from the way this thread has gone but I'm guessing your meeting went alright?? If so, I'm glad.

Oh, and I gotta agree with Higgim -- personal responsibility should be a no-brainer, but unfortunately is non-existent these days. I have several friends who are teachers. I don't understand why they bother, but then again I don't understand why GC actually likes his job either. Given the way people think they are entitled to treat teachers and cops it amazes me we have any good ones of either left.

OK ... go ahead and tell me how all teachers just sit and drink coffee in the lounge all day planning their next pedo film, looking for ways to ruin your day because you have the PERFECT CHILD (OR CHILDREN) they are only there to pick on and make your life miserable now, and all cops are just revenue-generating a-holes on some power trip to snatch away all your constitutionally given rights to act like a fool no matter how it affects others ... I'm up for it today!!

I believe what you are describing is a public school at home option. This is not required. We removed our children from public school three years ago to be home schooled. There was no application or fees involved. The only thing we had to do was inform the school that our children would not be returning to school the next year. My children are home schooled three days a week and attend co-op classes the other two days. I personally know at least 10 families with children from 5 to 17 years in age that also home school their children. There are no state required tests these children must take to continue to be home schooled.

Here is a link for more information on home schooling in Oklahoma if you are interested. http://oklahomahomeschooling.org/index.htm

HMMMMMM...... I'll double check my sources. My bad sir.

LOL.... I dare someone to mess with the lady. AND I agree 100%. As much as the two professions get bashed, it IS a wonder there any out there who want to do the job anymore. Especially Law Enforcement.

I'm sorry, the blame does not belong on the school, nor teachers, or the city, or the highways.
Somebody needs to think about personal accountability.

I would agree with you but there are extenuating circumstances. I start work at 8AM on the other side of town. My wife works from 7PM - 7:15 AM and has to drive from OU medical center to Norman. School starts at 7:50. Every day there are more than 20-50 cars that are late. There is a HUGE bottle neck dropping kids off at school. Not to mention because the teachers didnt want to extend the school year to account for snow days school starts 20 minutes earlier this year.

yes the issue was resolved. The principle just wanted confirmation that we would try to get the kids in on time. However even if we are late it is fine, they just want to know we are trying. Not us specifically but the hundreds of students that are late daily.

To the OP, glad it is worked out. Hope things go well from here on out.

That's a fairy tale perpetrated by the liberal elite who hate homeschooling.

Actually I think it all depends on the way they are homeschooled. I attended CHA in Del City and all the homeschool kids that followed CHA curriculum were weird. My wife was homeschooled her entire life and she is the social butterfly of the two of us. But she was also put in situations where she had to be able to carry on conversation with any one.

In response to the last comment on page 2. HAHA!! What a load. I detest private schools. My daughter has received a better education in 2 years of edmond public school than the 2 years she had at CHA. It is not the schools job to raise my children, it's mine and my wifes. The school facilitates learning, we ingrain what they learn and the character they should posses. We provided the biblical teaching that they need. What is right for one child or family is not right for all. Private school is great and works for some, but for my children it is not. Not only do my children get a better education now, but they also have the opportunity to see the real world and we can teach them when they come home with questions about that real world.
