What about freeze-12, its a r12 replacement and is compatible with r12. I have seen it at NAPA and think it can be had over the counter. We used it tractors and combines and big trucks mainly. It seemed to work good. I also put it in my '84 fullsize bronco and it worked well there too!

Good luck getting any LE to shackle someone for owning a can of R12.... Might as well stop with the OHMUHGAWD!!! spook tactics..

Like most have said.. just pull some from craigslist... Now if it has a leak.. Just convert it to 134.. its not that hard.. And wouldnt cost a whole lot..

Your link references 608 which applies to service building air conditioning and refrigeration systems. you need to be looking at 609 which applies to motor vehicles

here is a place quite a lot of people get certified for 609 http://www.epatest.com/609/ its like 20 bucks and recognized by the EPA

A much better link for the average joe... http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/609/index.html

I should have known better than to try and help a fellow out. My God, someone alert the wikipedia police.
I too am out, no sense in a rebuttal to that post.
