I remember when the high cap 9mm's (specifically when the U.S. military adopted the Beretta) came out the gun rags all claimed that the 1911 was "dead". Looks like Ruger had to jump on the 1911 band wagon.

The plunger tube for both the slide stop and thumb safety is integral to the frame. IIRC, Ruger makes Caspian frames which are good to go.

I hate stuff like that. Pretty soon they'll add "Front toward enemy" on the front of the barrel in claymore style. Except it makes sense on a claymore.
