That JD drag tractor runs prob 800+hp...........the steamer probably 20hp, maybe less...............huge weight difference, which makes the difference here.

Ya been to the one in Fairview a couple of times, was amazed at how such little hp with extreme weight could do so much.

Not that it would have changed much but the drawbar hook ups should have been the same height or level, it would have given the modern JD a more equal pull. Steam engines are neat and impressive but I think the size, efficiency, maintenance, safety, ease of use and time needed to warm them up were the killers of them, (did I leave anything else out?) lol.

Pretty cool. My brother in law watched a steam tractor do a full pull at a pulling event. None of the modern ones could. As far as the JD in this video goes, I don't really think I'd wanna plow that fast anyway!
