After a quick autopsy of a 130lb doe shot at 75 yrds w 100 grain core lokt, i am concerned about the bullets not holding together. First off, the bullet didn't pass through. Found the jacket and a small fragment of lead. I guess there was 100% energy transfer. I guess i am wondering if a bonded or copper solid bullet that held together would be more effective?

Well my 30-30 150gr soft point is the ONLY bullet and gun i have a consistent pass through with.
The 165 gameking HP from my .308 will not make it to the other side comes all apart..
The 178A Max from the .308 will enter a shoulder and exit the other shoulder..But hope you do not like eating shoulders.

The 30-06 i shoot with hornady #3031 bullet 150gr spitzer with lead point will sometimes exit most of the time it is all apart and inside the deer and it will leave a trail of shrapnel in it's path every time.

Then you have my 50 cal muzzle loader with 295gr Copper jacket Hollow Point 90gr pyrodex.
It exited a deer once,, shot in the neck .. even broad side i only got a bulge on the other side of the animal.
That bullet completely fragments inside the deer.

As long as I get a dead deer i can care less how it happens.

Don't sweat pass through..it is absolutely not needed.

I couldn't find any .243 in Academy a few weeks back, but found some at Dick's. (I know, Dick's #%^&*@#$%%, blah, blah, blah...but they did have the ammo on the shelf when I needed it.)

The deer was dead so the bullet did the job. I dont think it's anything to worry
y about but if it makes you feel better buy the other ammo if you can find it. It will cost more for bonded and solid copper.
