Now that it will soon be legal, who will actually carry openly?

One person I know here in Stillwater,,,
Is already trying to organize an open carry procession,,,
That would go through downtown Stillwater on November the 1st.

Not a parade in the streets where we would need a license/permit,,,
Just a bunch of open carriers walking in line down the sidewalks of the business district.

He asked me if I wanted to participate,,,
My answer was, "Not just no, but H### No!"

The only reason for this is to be noticed and get attention,,,
I personally class this idea as STUPID.

We got the new law passed,,,
Why rub it in the faces of the citizenry.

Open carry events happen all the time in other states. It's not done rub it in the face of citizenry, but to draw attention to the fact it is legal and to educate people about it so they won't be so afraid when they see someone putting eggs in the shopping cart while wearing a firearm.

I wouldn't participate. I feel the same way. It's drawing too much attention to an already touchy subject. Don't poke the bear. We finally managed to get it, plan to use it occasionally and that's it. Not trying to make a statement. Let the public settle into it for a bit. Don't slap them in the face with it the first day.

Haha that OC procession is a genius idea. The @$$clownery is strong with that guy.

And no, I won't OC. I don't need to show everyone my pistol to be sexy ;)

I wont be OC'ing but it will sure be nice to not have to worry about accidentally flashing or printing hard when I bend over to pick up my kid or that case of soda.

Not in this case,,,
He specifically wants to show off.

The simple act of open carry in everyday life will accomplish that goal better than overt mass displays,,,
At least that's how I see things.

Who knows for sure what the outcome will be if he actually organizes the procession,,,
But I predict it will do nothing but stir the stink-pot of anti-gun rhetoric.

I see no reason for a march or other organized show of celebration for the Law. Now if later on it is found that the Government is somehow abusing its authority and harassing citizens who choose to open carry that would be another matter. In that case a show of numbers would be warranted.

Other groups around the country do things like open carry trash pickup, open carry picnics in the park, things like that. The idea is to show people that the ones carrying also care about the community and are really just normal folks that are taking the responsibility for their own safety.
