as a long time and life member of the nra ,i agree a whole lot with what Dwag says. actually when our rights are in danger the membership in the nra swells,in direct porportion to the threat. so----.and yes they have signed off on a lot of stuff they shouldn't have, including,"instant" check, which the clinton adm. used to harass gun show exhibitors, and others. believe it or not firearms owners lost a lot when neal knox died.

@ Pro-Feedom,

The NRA waffled back and forth on the endorsement of Reid for a long period of time.....all the while donating money to his re-election campaign. Donating money to a re-election campaign of Harry Reid and not to his conservative opponent is inexcusable.

Regardless of coming out and say it, the NRA is flexing its muscles to help Reid get re-elected. In the eyes of the NRA leadership, Harry Reid is "carrying the torch". Makes me want to puke!

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/28/nra-declines-endorse-reid-nevada-senate-race/

"The National Republican Senatorial Committee was quick to relay news of the NRA's decision. Meanwhile, Reid's campaign manager, Brandon Hall, noted that the NRA has donated to Reid's campaign and not to Angle's during the current election cycle. The group donated $4,950 to the Reid campaign, according to records maintained by the Center for Responsive Politics."

Where was the NRA last year when we had the opportunity to restore liberty with Open Carry?

Well this year they are endorsing my opponent. . .who voted against the Open Carry Amendment and didn't vote to override the veto.

For most of y'all, concerns about the NRA are theoretical. For me, it's a bit more than that.

SHOCKING! The NRA, the carrier of the torch, the no compromise defender of the 2nd Amendment, the sportsmen and firearm enthusiasts organization tasked with protecting our freedom.....endorses a candidate that voted against Open Carry. This can't be....I thought the sole purpose of the NRA was to fight for our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

I'm sorry if the sarcasm in this post is not overwhelmingly clear.

The simple fact that the NRA cleverly endorsed Harry Reid instead of his conservative opponent Sharon Angle should make all NRA members concerned about the leadership and true intentions of the organization.

I'm not sure I understand how they are endorsing Reid when they give him a "B" rating and give Angle an "A" rating. Check their website.

Simple. Follow the money. Did you not read the article and quote about the NRA donating $4950 to Harry Reid's re-election campaign? The NRA didn't donate anything to Angle.

Has the NRA ran any stories or advertisements for Sharon Angle in the American Rifleman?? How many times has Harry Reid been "thanked" by the NRA with articles about him in the American Rifleman?
