What I find interesting is all the Australian located detonations were done by England and the African detonations were done by France. It also looks like we allowed England to detonate on U.S. soil.

Yeah, the Brits and the Francs were smart enough not to detonate on their own soil, but apathetic enough to do it on their colonies. Although a large number of the test done in the animation were underground, it's still sad.

Where exactly could they have tested on their own soil? They are too densely populated. That is why they chose more isolated locations.

About our own soil. Have you ever been to New Mexico or Nevada?

No, they chose isolated locations because they don't care about someone of another nationality. I think that's pretty obvious. They could have tested underground, like we did the majority of our testing.

And yes, I've been to each several times. I don't the point in irradiating it...

Interesting. I worked on the engine nozzles for the one we retrofitted to be an intercepter. I forget which rocket it was, but it was a 3 stage and one fast sumbitch. Went up some 1500 miles and 2500 miles down range in under 5 minutes...

Cool, I dont work on the missle it self so I dont know much about it. I work on the bussiness end of it. You wanna talk about cutting through mound of red tape daily just to do your job.... :explode:

I know EXACTLY what you mean. It's no different on the machined parts. The paper work was insane. A detailed inspection report with every single dimension and the measurement on it. Metallurgical analysis report, heat treat time/temperature plots, NDT certs, every anodize, paint, assembly, sealant, etc., etc. Certifications for everything! Every single part literally had a book that went with it. When you put it all together for the whole assembly the paperwork really did weigh more than the assemblies. But we didn't have to have clearances, we didn't have more than machined part blueprints and processing specs. They ended up at ATK that was formerly named Morton-Thiokol.
