Its obvious a few people just dont understand why the GOP lost this past election.

I think the days of the landline are fading. I dont think the cost of cell phones or plans are ever going to go down. It wont be long and only smart phones will be offered for sale. Thus leaving the poor, elderly or disabled class without a way to communicate.

I equate it to passing out free 8 track players when the world has passed them by. Or giving poor people a comodore 64.

Maybe we could give them a bag phone, i gotta couple of them.

Modest tax increase for the wealthy blah, blah, blah. This "solution" will run the country for an estimated 6 days. Big deal! It's so stupid it's ridiculous. Until everyone decides to grow up and cut entitlements, it's just blowing smoke. Guess who brought in record revenues? The hated George W - by giving tax breaks. It's simple economics - tax job creators more, and they hire less and/or lay people off. What is the net gain out of that? We're already seeing it across the country (layoffs). Now, sequestration and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts (unless some miracle happens in the next few weeks)

"IF" you're seeking a job... IF you're seeking a job, you need a number you can be reached at. Maybe its a big if, but This is mostly cheap, outmoded, disposable technology anyway, as Lurker mentioned.

Yeah...I don't think that anyone actually seeking a job is applying for an Obama phone, but on the off chance that they are, maybe the phone should be an unemployment benefit not a welfare benefit.

But wouldn't people on unemployment also be eligable? I don't know the details
