I’ve gone to several auctions in the past, under the “banner” of licensed friends. Seldom bought much because prices always go crazy.

I don't bother with auctions. Brother-in-law (when he was alive) went to auctions and estate sales all the time looking for firearms and such. As he claimed, prices for firearms were always way out of line, so it was a good thing that he also bought other things so that his trips to the events wasn't a total expense.
