Can you show us on a doll where an officer touched or hurt you? Even Ronnie Milsap can see the biased hate towards LE. Yeah they both Fkd up. But that cop who was pleasant towards the woman hit by the guy didnt just turn homicidal. What he did do was underestimate his opponents weight. Some SA training and back to the field for him. and all of you armchair QB's can move to the next issue to complain about. IMHO of course.
We’ll see I’ll have the last laugh. When the lawsuit goes public the city will write the check and that idiot cop will be out of a job, end of story

You are mistaken. The cop will get another cop job in another town.

The taxpayers will pay for his heroic actions this time.

I don't see anything resembling biased hate towards LE here. Just that if an officer can't arrest a tiny old man without breaking his neck and skull then there is an issue. Most likely he lost his temper. He should be held accountable for his mistake like everyone else. Otherwise it'll be someone else that gets the same treatment next and that does lead to negative opinions of LE. He should be able to make arrests without unnecessary roughness.

That's the good thing about a jury trial, they get to determine if the old man assaulted the officer. With most juror's being older, I don't think it's going to go the cops way.
The problem with this comment IMO is that sounds great on paper, but in actuality depending on what they try to charge you with beyond a citation can have significant impacts to peoples careers and livelihoods regardless of if they're guilty or not. Unfortunately the majority of Leo is out there just to harass and collect additional funds from the citizens. The minority that are good are just as guilty for allowing the others to do what they do.

I'm about as un-pc as a human being can get but even I know that objects can be Oriental but people are Asian. They don't make Charlie Chan movies anymore either and if they did they would cast an Asian actor not a white guy with his eyes taped. I'm also about as pro-cop as a guy can get and I believe in giving an officer the benefit of the doubt but if severely excessive force is used the officer should be accountable. I'm old enough to recall when just arguing with a cop (even if you were right) might well get you a first class ass whipping. That's still not unheard of in some small towns or remote counties. It's mostly a thing of the past not because bad apples don't still exist but because cell phones and accountability now DO exist. As they well should.

Yep. I've heard some older cops brag about "back in the day, if a punk got mouthy we'd jerk him out of the car and tune him up. They may not have respected us, but they feared us"

I just shook my head. I'm glad those guys are retired.

You can't get too much more conservative than Clarence Thomas:
Justice Thomas has said qualified immunity has no historical basis and was invented by judges. In 2017, Justice Thomas wrote about his “growing concern with our qualified immunity jurisprudence.”

Not all jurisdictions have qualified immunity, where they don't have it police officers are more measured in their responses. I don't want officers to be sitting ducks and pin cushions for any and every malcontent to vent on, but for one thing hiring standards, especially in smaller communities should be much more stringent, including psychological testing. I had a nephew that desperately wanted to get on the local police department (large city) but he failed the psychological exam twice and wasn't allowed to apply a 3rd time. He was TOO GUNG HO, he couldn't wait to kick ass and take names. I'm sure any honest, experienced officer has met the type. In small towns and Sheriffs departments people sometime get hired for several other reasons other than being qualified. Training, pay, and standards all need to be at a higher level for most agencies. I live in a small town of 3000 people, we've had one officer fired and prosecuted for sexual assault, another for rape. Often these officers (and teachers and preachers) do that and end up down the road getting back into their field. We need a registry...one that's enforced.
