That cop just cost the city a ship ton of money. Police should meet force with a little more to gain control. Some of you might want to take another look at the video. The cop did not feel a threat he got pissed off and over re-acted. Would you think the same if this was your grandma....I hope the hell not

My Grandpa knew better than to shove a cop , Do you think it would be OK for your Grandpa to do that ? I find it novel everyone is missing the fact you don't lay hands on a cop . Right wrong or in between, its actually felony.

"21 OK Stat § 649 (2023)

A. Every person who, without justifiable or excusable cause, knowingly commits any assault upon the person of a police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, highway patrolman, corrections personnel, or state peace officer employed or duly appointed by any state governmental agency to enforce state laws while the officer is in the performance of his or her duties is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six (6) months, or by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment.

B. Every person who, without justifiable or excusable cause knowingly commits battery or assault and battery upon the person of a police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, highway patrolman, corrections personnel, or other state peace officer employed or duly appointed by any state governmental agency to enforce state laws while the officer is in the performance of his or her duties, upon conviction, shall be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections of not more than five (5) years or county jail for a period not to exceed one (1) year, or by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment."

I have been a very vocal critic of police in the past for a whole host of reasons, but I guess in this day and age people seem to have lost their ability to reason and say I may be making a very bad decision which could get my butt kicked, get me in jail or both.

Its not total excuse of the officer, but he isn't 100% guilty here . The old man wet the bed with his behavior and had some of it coming. Again it is or used to be common sense that you don't touch a cop.

Smart people say yes sir , no sir / yes ma'am , no ma'am . Take the citation and make their case in court later

He touched the cop at that point you're bought and paid for. I always thought this was a universal truth everyone knew.
with the war on LE that the dems have pushed on them. I 100% understand the no nonsense mentality these days. Thankful for when I was young that I got away with so much. If you dont understand the vehicle laws and cause a wreck. dont argue with the officer and then touch him after saying you might as well be arrested,

problem is, the "old man(70 years old)" is 5 foot nothing, maybe 110 lbs. Built like a friggin 10 year old. Cop should have called for backup who can translate first or at least pulled out the FREE GOOGLE translate app. Meridian and NW 39th isn't too far from the Asian district. (They WERE next to Dunkin Donuts though)
You know how many little old Asians could use you for a floor mop? Quite a few, and this cop did not know with what he was dealing. As for deescalation, that time is past when someone screams and lays hands, and then it's wall to wall counselling time.

I’ll say this again, I hope they throw the book at him and the old man gets a huge check to take to the bank.

The city expects officers to use the resources they have to effectively police !
That idiot went from 0-100 mph on a harmless old man. Prudence is obviously a word that idiot does not understand the meaning of.
All this big talk about the cop was clearly in his rights to seriously injure that man is repulsive.
So what if that was your father and he ended up in the hospital?
How much would you then support his actions?

I knew the moment the old guy (I'm a much younger 69) popped the cop and told him to shut up that it wasn't going to end well. My honorary uncle Archie was a cop in Glendale PD back in the late 60's and early 70's. He wouldn't have been that violent about it, but there would have been a bit of a hickory shampoo. Probably not broken his neck or cracked his skull, but he'd have not been at all comfortable.
