When I saw the video,

I knew the moment the old guy (I'm a much younger 69) popped the cop and told him to shut up that it wasn't going to end well. My honorary uncle Archie was a cop in Glendale PD back in the late 60's and early 70's. He wouldn't have been that violent about it, but there would have been a bit of a hickory shampoo. Probably not broken his neck or cracked his skull, but he'd have not been at all comfortable.
How do you know the guy doesn’t have dementia or such? In the end macho cops have no business wearing the blue. It’s always just a matter of time. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

You know how many little old Asians could use you for a floor mop? Quite a few, and this cop did not know with what he was dealing. As for deescalation, that time is past when someone screams and lays hands, and then it's wall to wall counselling time.
Lays hands??? You're a sad man. I use that term loosely.

I’m disappointed and upset with the Oklahoma City Police Department. This is not how you treat someone that is 5’3, 115 lbs with bone cancer after a car accident. Especially if English is their second language. I will never forget this, especially if my dad cannot recover and passes away.
No matter our differences, I love you Dad. I’m sorry this happened to you.
💕

Please SHARE if you can. I don’t know what steps to take or what to do next. If you have advice, please let me know.
‼️
We DO NOT support violence or harassment. We DO NOT support harassment of the other party that was involved in the car accident

UPDATE - My dad is a little cleaned up now. There are still dents on the side of his head and his eye is swollen shut. His neck is fractured anteriorly and posteriorly. He can barely speak but he said thank you for all the support and prayers.

An update on Dad -
He’s conscious now; he can speak and recognize people. Sometimes he gets frustrated because he can’t remember why he’s there or how he got there, which is understandable. He can’t swallow anything properly because of his neck fracture; they have an NG tube to give him continuous feedings and hydrations.
He still has a little bit of bleeding/blood leftover from his brain bleed; he will get surgery on Friday.
🙏🏼
🙏🏼
🙏🏼
Thank you to all those who have commented support and or prayers. It means a lot; I am sorry if I don’t reach out to each and every one of you, but just know that I am truly grateful for you all.
🙏🏼
🙏🏼
🙏🏼

The nurses have been AMAZING. Thank you for putting up with my Dad and his ornery jokes. You guys have made this an easier process for us.
We’re still going to fight for justice; this isn’t over yet.

My Grandpa knew better than to shove a cop , Do you think it would be OK for your Grandpa to do that ? I find it novel everyone is missing the fact you don't lay hands on a cop . Right wrong or in between, its actually felony.

"21 OK Stat § 649 (2023)

A. Every person who, without justifiable or excusable cause, knowingly commits any assault upon the person of a police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, highway patrolman, corrections personnel, or state peace officer employed or duly appointed by any state governmental agency to enforce state laws while the officer is in the performance of his or her duties is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six (6) months, or by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment.

B. Every person who, without justifiable or excusable cause knowingly commits battery or assault and battery upon the person of a police officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, highway patrolman, corrections personnel, or other state peace officer employed or duly appointed by any state governmental agency to enforce state laws while the officer is in the performance of his or her duties, upon conviction, shall be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections of not more than five (5) years or county jail for a period not to exceed one (1) year, or by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment."

I have been a very vocal critic of police in the past for a whole host of reasons, but I guess in this day and age people seem to have lost their ability to reason and say I may be making a very bad decision which could get my butt kicked, get me in jail or both.

Its not total excuse of the officer, but he isn't 100% guilty here . The old man wet the bed with his behavior and had some of it coming. Again it is or used to be common sense that you don't touch a cop.

Smart people say yes sir , no sir / yes ma'am , no ma'am . Take the citation and make their case in court later
So your saying he shoved the cop now? What he clearly did is tap him with the back of his hand and you want to call that battery. I don't believe any police man on shooters will say this was okay.

I’ll say this again, I hope they throw the book at him and the old man gets a huge check to take to the bank.

The city expects officers to use the resources they have to effectively police !
That idiot went from 0-100 mph on a harmless old man. Prudence is obviously a word that idiot does not understand the meaning of.
All this big talk about the cop was clearly in his rights to seriously injure that man is repulsive.
So what if that was your father and he ended up in the hospital?
How much would you then support his actions?
I am not saying the cop was within his rights. Am saying that he went way overboard. Also will say that an old oriental man may not be the one you want to let get away with a minor assault because who knows what his next step could have been. Sure looks like the potential rock and a hard place. I am close to his age, but nearly a foot taller and 140lbs heavier. I was taught to say Yes, Sir/Ma'am & No, Sir/Ma'am, and to sound like I meant it. And to sign the nice ticket for the nice cop. It's stood me in good stead. And after I got out of high school I was pretty well law-abiding...

I did spend about an hour outside Las Vegas waiting on cop inquiries about a guy who matched my description to about 8 of 10 points. They were talking about a cop killer, but he was heavily tattooed, and I was wearing an old worn nearly transparent white t-shirt. Obviously wasn't tattooed.

How was the cop supposed to know the old man was “harmless”at the time of the incident ? Speculation? Monday morning quarterback….

Oriental is a rug.
Minor assault??? his next step??? maybe summon a dragon? or execute the.... DIM MAK???

Within the 1st minute, backup with a translator should have been called.

Don't know he doesn't have dementia. Do know a few folks who were boat people, came over here after the Fall of Saigon... Several of them have family members who were RVN. Some were old ladies, and I still wouldn't mess with them. In any case, they should know about cops here. Most of them have been here longer than I have. And I didn't say the cop was right to do it, just that it was obvious it was going to happen. Was, in fact, more violent than I expected. Not happy about that. Hope I never get to the point that I provoke something like that, either. Maybe we need RoboCop after all.

He'd already called a supervisor. Just moments before things blew up. AKA too freaking late. Popping someone with your fingertips is battery. Telling them to shut up is assault. It's major if you use a weapon or fists, or threaten death or dismemberment. And the Orient is what they used to call Asia. Including Southeast Asia. And things and people from that region are referred to as oriental. I don't do PC. Though a lot of "Oriental" rugs are from Southwest Asia. Turkey and Persia, for example. Some folks wanted de-escalaton. Someone starting a fight with words and a tap may escalate. And do anything from yell louder to empty a magazine...
