So your saying he shoved the cop now? What he clearly did is tap him with the back of his hand and you want to call that battery. I don't believe any police man on shooters will say this was okay.

Go poke a cop in the chest with your finger and see what happens. I have little sympathy for folks who are not smart enough to know the law , as I said earlier I've been critical of the police and have done so here. But only someone with an axe to grind who has tunnel vision and hates the police is gonna have the perspective only the cop was wrong in this incident. Objectivity must work both ways, like I said earlier the cop might have over reacted given the circumstances, but the old man had a responsibility to shut up and not lay hands on a police officer.

A further aside if he has dementia then he probably shouldn't be driving. At this point I bet the cop doesn't get fired and he shouldn't be. Disciplined for for not using good judgement but the law clearly was broken by the old man.

Seriously… “shove a cop”…. He literally touched his ballistic vest!
You can't touch a cop? What are they a god? Maybe just a bishop? Then all you can do is kneel before them, and kiss the ring? They work for us, we don't have to tip toe around them. I've known some good cops in my life, including one that always said he was trying to save my life, it took me awhile before I realized he was telling the truth. He died before I could thank him and his family. No good cop would defend this useless piece of sh*t. He's a loser, He will get fired this week, and his stupidity and the need to show the world he is tougher than an 80 year old man will end up costing the city (us) 1/2 to a million dollars. But the ones I blame are the people that gave him a psychological work up, if they couldn't see this guy was a whacko they need to get fired as well. There is no excuse for what he did, and he should be in jail.

Well what do y’all think on this one? The view near the end of clip, from a nearby camera, is pretty brutal. Old Asian guys head hit the pavement hard.

Language barrier is obviously an issue. Old guy was being uncooperative too. But the cop took him down awful hard.

Theres an understood rule, dont touch a law enforcement officer. Get into enough fights and you will learn to not dick around with people. You dominate them and gain control before they do it to you. And welcome to the USA where English is our language. Its time to quit simping for those who dont speak English and are problems to our nation. Now must we body slam the elderly? No, thats PROBABLY not the best way but at the end of the day, if you touch an officer, especially OCPD, just get ready for the consequences. If there are no consequences then why cant we all just bully police and get away with it which leads to violent crimes against police increasing.

He'd already called a supervisor. Just moments before things blew up. AKA too freaking late. Popping someone with your fingertips is battery. Telling them to shut up is assault. It's major if you use a weapon or fists, or threaten death or dismemberment. And the Orient is what they used to call Asia. Including Southeast Asia. And things and people from that region are referred to as oriental. I don't do PC. Though a lot of "Oriental" rugs are from Southwest Asia. Turkey and Persia, for example. Some folks wanted de-escalaton. Someone starting a fight with words and a tap may escalate. And do anything from yell louder to empty a magazine...
It's called discretion and this policeman abused his right to use it and others will say nothing to see here because you can call a tap a shove and get away with it. Come on we all saw the same thing, this guy screwed up and just because can don't make it right.

He touched the cop at that point you're bought and paid for. I always thought this was a universal truth everyone knew.
It is, but people think that a simple touch or poke is harmless. Go work the job, come back in a year and then form an opinion is what all of my LEOs active and retired say. To which I agree… but also, dont TOUCH law enforcement personnel, they dont gaf and they dont have to. You touch them, they have legal right to deal with you abruptly. One step above what you did or are doing… your poke or shove justifies a takedown.

Can i ask what world were you raised in where you were told it was ok to enter a police officer’s space and touch him when he was responding to a call or working an accident?

Its unfortunate the old man got injured but he did mess up, will he have any charges dropped probably it’s possible. Did the cop act inappropriately? Not so much he just used more physical force than he should have in subduing the subject. Having said that doing what the old man did was enough to be arrested and charged . You don’t touch a cop on duty and working

I am by far more conservative than anyone here , but you do you boo boo. I posted the statute for you . Its a felony and yes that includes poking a cop with your finger. Don't believe me give it a go and see how it works.
