Oklahoma voters passed State Question 780 in November 2016, with 58.23% for and 41.77% opposed. State Question 780 would reduce simple drug possession from a felony to a misdemeanor. The Oklahoma House recently passed HB 1482, which effectively voids State Question 780. Before HB 1482 becomes law, it must also pass through the Oklahoma Senate, and be signed by the Governor.

I don't want this post to be a debate between those for and against State Question 780 or about SQ 780 itself. However, I do think that the Oklahoma House voting to void a State Question, is a separate issue, that deserves attention.

It feels to me that drugs in Oklahoma are such a pandemic that it leads to numerous other crimes. I say this as a helicopter Flys over head tonight in (po-dunk) Wagoner Oklahoma, in no doubt in search of some one high as a helicopter on meth had stolen a car. Can't we just execute them all? Seems like a short term answer to a long term problem.

The helicopters that fly over me in wagoner county are either National Guard Blackhawks headed for Camp Gruber or Air Med headed for Muskogee or other parts SE of Tulsa to bring back critical patients to Tulsa.

Maybe we should make drugs be dealt by dealers and illegal in a lot of circumstances? That'll probably solve the problem. ;)

That's not the vote. Don't know what that is, plain text so it should be phone friendly. Here is the vote:

I don't really care one way or the other on 780, there are good and bad points both for and against it. But for the house to take it upon themselves and nullify a vote of the people is unconscionable. But sometimes I wonder if we don't bring this on ourselves. Are there any recalls in the works? Well there ya go...

Oklahoma doesn't have any provisions for recall, so...no. There ya go.
