My Dad is a farrier and makes knives out of his old rasps too. I think I have probably 4-5 of them laying around. Some with bone handles, other with leather, none of his handles are that fancy though. I have one he made out of a railroad tie where he twisted one end for the handle. He donates some of them every year to be auctioned for some charity where he lives. He even pounds out the edge using a forge and anvil. Definitely a lost art.
