So you are saying I would be eligible for the non resident states that Oklahoma acknowledges it and would be eligible after taking one of the classes? What sucks is I took a class months before my arrest happened and even had my paper work sent off for my CCL when everything happened, so that time and money went down the drain.

I would definitely be interested in knowing what States I could apply for it through so I could carry here without any legal repercussions.

I would talk to an attorney or the OSBI/Sheriff to confirm this. Your freedom and a lot of money is at stake.

From the looks of it I am eligible for a non resident CCL from Florida with paperwork and proof of training. I doubt my paperwork from taking the course over 2 years ago would be accepted.

I believe a lawyer stated above I would be legal in Oklahoma so long as the state that the license I receive is in the list of states that Oklahoma acknowledges. I don't see how I would be breaking any laws if I legally obtained a license to carry as a non resident from another state that Oklahoma recognizes as legal to carry within the state.

Right?

Then again I could run into the same issues with other states that call for a 3 year wait between having something dismissed.

It just irritates me because the constitution outweighs other laws, and being told that a person has to wait 3 years before carrying that was never convicted isn't right at all.

If I can buy a gun, I should be able to carry a gun.

Right?
I agree with your last post.

I still wouldn't count on internet advice though. I'm sure the paperwork associated with a NR permit will ask about arrests and or convictions.

Also, if you get pulled over and the cop sees your arrest record and then sees you have a NR permit he might take you in even if he's wrong and you're right.

I thought I read something about having a NR permit but actually be resident. Please be smart about this and at minimum call the OSBI.

I wouldn't act on anything without having 100% assurance from in state legal standpoints on it for sure.

OSBI only wants to provide me with the information that they will not grant me a license for 3 years.

If Constitutional carry would ever pass for Oklahoma it would be great. This is a prime example of a person wanting to utilize their rights and being told no by an agency that's only real reason for being involved is money. They shouldn't have the right to tell non convicted people they can't do something they are entitled to, and we all know a criminal wouldn't bother trying to do whatever it takes LEGALLY to have such a thing, they would just do it anyways.

There is no list of States that Oklahoma honors permits from. The law is real simple -- OK honors all other carry permits of any sort from any state... and even lets residents of Constitutional carry states carry here legally. If you can get any state whatsoever to issue you a piece of plastic saying you can carry, Oklahoma honors it. It's called "full reciprocity."

If any cop arrests and imprisons someone for carrying on a NR permit, I will gladly represent them in the 1983 suit against the officer and the department for violation of civil rights. It should be good for a somewhat decent payday.

So what would be a good state to apply for without having to worry about hitting the entire 3 year brick wall issue? I notice some states require a certified class be taken by an instructor in that particular state. Any suggestions?

Arizona looks somewhat simple and forward as well. I was a little confused on the military stipulations until I read the sentence a few times and it only pertained to those under the age of 21. I think I will do my safety class and try and get a permit with another state. My luck by the time I complete it and get my permit, Oklahoma will turn Constitutional carry. lol
