License? Permit? What's the difference? One still has to get permission from the government to exercise a natural right.

There are more important things out there to get one's panties in a wad over than the word license being used instead of permit.

Sadly, it seems some on this board believe that the constitution only protects certain people rights and wish there was a test given before a citizen can enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

So the 2A should only apply to those who have a certain IQ level?
There's no argument that there are some less than stellar thinking individuals sharing this earth with us but when it comes to a persons rights, how can you say that? These people share the roads with us too which should probably scare the hell out of you more. with that said, if they prove to stupid to responsibly operate their car, they lose there driving privileges. As is the case if they use a firearm irresponsibly.

Man! If the attitudes expressed in this thread and others re: open carry that are coming from gun guys who profess to believe in freedom, natural rights the 2A etc are any indication then the likelihood of OC passing via a vote of the people is so tiny as to not even warrant the dimmest glimmer of hope.

Why is it so DAMNED hard for some of you to understand the real question isn't about OC and whether it will lead to gunfights in the streets, loss of tactical surprise and all the other bogus arguments spewed forth.

The question is about getting back a right the founders placed 2nd in a sacred list of rights and forbad the government from infringing. The question is about freedom and choice both bulwarks of a free society and a free people.

Some people just don't deserve to be free. Maybe Oklahomans should be a part of that group. People like Tibbs and Barrington seem to believe that.

It's really great for a lot of you that the likes of them, were chosen by the likes of you, to be our masters.

That's not the only freedom they are stealing from you. Under the guise of "tort reform, " they are capping your damages, limiting access to the court system to only those that can afford it, and doing this contrary to the Oklahoma Constitution.

True, but I have other areas of law, no debt, and a ton of incoming producing assets and am licensed in other states. Additionally, being the rocket science I am, I saw this coming and over 50% of my practice is now Federal and immune from this crap. So my fat ass will stay in Cartier, Zegna, Brioni and Benzes for a while, but thanks for taking a shot at me.

Your attitude is indicative of what is wrong, if I am helping an injured person recover for what was done to them, and they are happy, why would you care what I earned? If I were a promoter and took a company public and made serious money, would you still care? If I were a wildcatter and hit a good field and good pay day, would you still care? Aside from the fact that I spent years in school, I have made a significant investment of time and money in my law practice. Why should I not reap the reward? I guess government regulation is OK in my case?

What's sad is it's not me who is going to suffer. I have class A insurance and a lot of money. Additionally, my proven earnings would demonstrate my damages as a economic damage if I were injured and couldn't practice law. Something happens to me, and I will be fine. This is going to hurt working people. This is going to hurt the small business owner. This is going to hurt the very people who make up the backbone of this state, and you geniuses have welcomed it with open arms. But hey, as long as "we have guns and them there damned lawyers suffer," it's all OK.
