I'm getting sick of my political party both locally and nationally. They talk the talk until they get to the capital building and only a handful of them continue the talk. What is the deal with this Republican Reynolds dude that seems to be helping the Democrats?

I don't totally understand the bill so maybe I am wrong. Why can't they just get a decent clearly written bill up there and vote on it? It seems like the fake Republicans are afraid of having to be on record of voting how they believe.

How will police, DA's, and the AG determine what constitutes reasonable fear of bodily harm? Is it up to the carrier or someone else if the reason is indeed valid?

Okay, this is easy...They stop you while open carrying and take your gun. If you are killed before court date then you where correct to open carry. If you make it to court, your fear was unreasonable and you go to jail. See how well this will work!

No mention as to whether or not the Speaker was located. But they're steamrolling over all their rules and procedures anyway, so it's no wonder that little requirement is swept under the rug.

One thing that might be helpful - at least to me: Can someone put together a list of pro Reps. on these issues? I've figured out that Sullivan, Steele, and the other floor leaders are against open carry, but I'm having a hard time identifying the Good Guys. Bennett for sure, and I THOUGHT Reynolds, until someone in another post bad-mouthed him................

Baffle 'em with BS...............then they won't know how to fight...............

Good luck.

I'd question the 2A support of everyone who supported that bill as a so-called "open carry" bill, whether by vote or by lobbying.

ETA: Rep. Derby does have a notice of motion to reconsider on file. He must make that motion today since this is the deadline for bill consideration in chamber of origin. Normally, he would have 3 days to make the motion or let it die.

By the way, here's the e-mail I sent to my rep.

Mr. Russ,

I'm not sure which way you voted because it hasn't been published yet, but I would like for you to support Rep. Derby's motion to reconsider the vote. A "yes" vote on HB1647 should be regarded as an anti- Second Amendment vote whether it be with or without the Virgin amendment.

As long as the addition of "section 6" in Section 1 of the bill remains intact (with or without the Virgin amendment), this bill does nothing to help open carry in Oklahoma. In fact, it hurts open carry efforts. With the language there, open carry of a firearm in Oklahoma would still remain a criminal offense. The only thing offered by this bill in terms of open carry is a defense in the event of an arrest or prosecution if the defendant can articulate a "reasonable fear of bodily harm". However, as you can imagine a "reasonable fear" by one person may not be a "reasonable fear" to another.

Rep. Reynolds said on the floor that gun owners support this as an open carry bill. I personally have not met a single gun owner who does once they are privy to what the so-called open carry provision actually says. It doesn't matter if it's the group who wants licensed open carry, Constitutional open carry, or no open carry at all, they all seem to recognize that the language in this bill is bad.

Support of HB1647 is support of a bill that is bad for gun owners and open carry in Oklahoma. I would personally consider anyone (Representative or otherwise) who supports this bill to be against open carry in Oklahoma, especially if they are actually aware of the language in the bill.
