We got a call this afternoon, and it looks like we may be starting our Summer jobs next weekend, around the 21st. Unless something changes, it looks like we start out with a couple of weeks work up in Rhode Island. Then, sometime after that, they want us working in South Carolina until around mid-July. In mid-July, they want us back in north Texas working the area we worked last year.

Glad to be having something to do and getting to see new places.
Nothing like working your way to TX in mid summer 😉🤣

Here’s my rant for the day. I’m going to start by saying some people are complete idiots, and those people can really annoy the snot out of me. The wind was blowing pretty steady today at around 25 to 30 mph with gusts way higher than that. A customer of mine decided that he wanted to take his boat out of his storage unit. Somehow, the wind caused the door to start closing while he was driving out, and he ripped the door off the frame. I know it was an accident, but a little common sense would have been something to use today. I spent the afternoon fighting the wind while getting the door semi secured. I’ll be spending my Saturday morning getting it fixed right. Rant over except to say that idiots should stay home on windy days.

Been a long couple of weeks. It was time to remove the pool. It hasn’t been opened in 4 years because we are on the road every summer.
Started Easter weekend by renting an excavator with a concrete breaker to start demolition of the concrete around the pool and a patio adjacent to it.
Turned into one heck of a challenge. When I pour concrete it’s there to stay forever. 6” thick with 3/8” rebar on 12” centers. It sure doesn’t crack! There were no visible cracks after 31 years.

Swapped the concrete breaker out for a 24” bucket and dug a hole in the middle of the pool to bury all the concrete in. Spent two days and change moving the concrete into the hole. Then there was the stainless steel inside wall to get rid of.
The excavator didn’t have the cahunas to bend or tear it out as it was buried in a concrete footing with stainless dead man anchors to hold things in place.
Built a redneck oxy/acetylene air arc rig to blow out the stainless as it was being cut. Took a couple days and lots of gas to get that done.
Today, enlisted the help of a buddy with a front loader to help me move dirt from a donated pile to the old pool site.
After moving over 90 tons of dirt in a dump trailer, we have a semi finished back yard now.
After letting it settle for about a year, a new stone outdoor kitchen and rec area is going where the old pool was located. Sprinkler on the area now to facilitate the settling.

Which range in OKC gets your vote for best rental gun selection? My wife's cousin is wanting a new carry gun, but isn't a polymer fan. I think Big Boys, Wilshire and H&H rent guns, not sure of anyone else? TIA

That's ugly! Hope you got everything back in working order. I see some disks that will need replaced.
It was very ugly. Overall, it could have been a lot worse. A few bent and broken discs and some busted hydraulic lines. He was able to limp back home with it, but there is definitely some repairs to be made.

I used to have a whole library of Ag disasters with tractors and implements, some were with mine or a relatives. Deleted them a few years back.
