Well, had to drive back to Enid today. Forgot to remove meds and some other things from the RV when we took it over there yesterday. Wife went along so we went to Land Run Steakhouse for lunch.
They had a red snapper special going on, so that is what I got. Wife got a steak salad and French Onion soup.
Yeah, I know, pretty much a Faux Pa going into a steak house and getting the fish, but I do love red snapper.
Otherwise, got out into the shop and got dove hunting gear lined up. Hunting season opens tomorrow!

We made the cell carrier switch to Verizon today. All Pioneer customers had until end of Sep to make a switch, as Pioneer is getting out of the cellular business. Verizon finally gave in and sent 4 reps to Cheyenne to do the transitions, I bet those 4 wish they had volunteered for the French Foreign Legion instead!

I think the average wait time from arrival to completion has been 4-6 hours on site. Our daughter got us signed in around 1430-1445 today, and we were done 1745-1800, so we beat the average. At least our bill should go down around $100/month. How do yall like Verizon overall?

Overall, we like Verizon, although like just about every other carrier, there are places where the signals just aren't good. In our case, it is usually a mountain for some ridge blocking the signal for us. When in Colorado, we had a tower less than a mile from us, but the mountain was there. Drive 2 miles out to the highway and service was great. Similar in Oregon where we worked.

We switched from AT&T to Verizon back around 2006 or so. If I wanted to call someone, I had to step outside of the house to make the call. (We lived just south of the river between Mustang and Tuttle.) Also, we had bad issues of dropped calls with AT&T as well as not getting voice mails for about 2 or 3 days after the message was left.

We are happy enough with Verizon that we also have one of their MiFi systems that allows us to do internet via cell service, even when we are out on the road and even literally driving down the road.

I keep saying I'm gonna switch over to Mint Mobile cuz it's $15/month. I gotta get a new phone first. This one is on it's last leg ... 😢 Things just don't last like they used to. Of course, this phone does a whole lot more than the landline I had in my duplex in Tishomingo. Ahhh, that's a nice little walk down memory lane.

Speaking of landlines, I'm tempted to put one in here at the house again ... Just don't know if I wanna spend the money, though ... 🤷 Any of you guys even know of anyone who has a landline anymore?? 🤷🤷🤷
We literally have one now! We just got fiber internet 2 weeks ago. Our old internet REQUIRED us to have a landline.

Still do due to both the wife and I on call all the time. Sometimes cell service is spotty where we live and rely on landline as backup so we can be reached. Required basically for our jobs so 100% tax deductable which is a plus.

In over 6 years of traveling in the RV, we have found one area that is extremely poor AT&T. It shows up on their coverage map. Salida, and Buena Vista in Colorado. Why they neglect that area, I don't know, but it's bad.

Absolutely tax deductible. Our farming business requires phone service. Farms are 45 miles from home.

Good morning everyone. One of my cousins turned 72 years old yesterday, and he bought an older Jeep. To celebrate his birthday, I’m taking the morning off, and we’re going to do some country boy stuff. We’re going to try and find some mud which won’t be easy and get our Jeeps muddy. We’ll at least be riding around in areas that are pretty rugged. Of course we’re taking some guns in case we scare up some hogs. If we don’t find any hogs, I’m sure that we’ll kill a couple of pop bottles. The doves aren’t worth messing with today. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. I’m ready for the weekend to be over because it’s the last major drunken weekend for the folks going to the lake. My life usually gets a lot easier after Labor Day.

Ended up at one of my favorite spots this afternoon. It’s a natural spring that is basically the beginning of Jimmy Creek in SW Oklahoma. No matter how hot it is outside, the cold water will take your breath away every time. My cousin and I stripped down and jumped in like little kids. It was a good day. There isn’t much written history about the spring, but the story is that it was the sight of a large fight between Comanche Indians and another tribe that had come to the area to war and steal. As far as personal history, many of my family members have jumped into the spring since the early 1900’s. All of my kids have jumped in with me many times, and I hope that I will jump in with some grandkids in the not to distant future.

That’s a beautiful spot, and I’d like to thank you for not posting a picture of y’all stripped down and in the water.
