This is the longest streak of freezing temps, both day and night,,,
That I can remember in the 17 years I've lived in Ripley.

Yesterday my cat (Jamie Lee Catus) sat in the window all day long,,,
She was absolutely fascinated by the falling snow.

She's an indoor cat and has been for her five years on this planet,,,
But today for some perverse reason I let her on the porch.

I wish I had taken video,,,
Of her "prancing" around in the 2" of snow on my porch.

She was only in it for one minute,,,
She came inside and licked her paws for 10 minutes.

I opened the door again about an hour later,,,
She immediately hid under the bed.

Holy cow!!! We finally made to San Angelo. The roads were horrible for the first 150 miles, and I had to drive 45-50 mph in 4 wheel drive.
I’ve never been out in this part of Texas, and there’s a lot of nothing.

Glad you made it safely. We drove from So Cal to Dallas and there’s a lot of nothing in most of Texas. 😉

I used to think that way, but being something of a photographer, one tends to notice "interesting" things that others might not notice. Back in 2002 while we were driving back from visiting family in Idaho, we were coming down a highway in Utah and I thought that we were really in a desolate place.

Then we stopped at a tourist place to stretch our legs and beauty jumped out at me.

Sometimes it is just hard to find. In 2021, we got sent to eastern Wyoming to finish up some of our Summer work job stuff. The couple that had first been sent up there didn't like eastern Wyoming at all and was very anxious to get to leave. However, since the wife and I both are from very rural farm and ranch country, that part of Wyoming to us was interesting and beautiful.

Congratulations, Gramps. You've just brightened up a very cold morning up here.

On top of the cold here, I'm weaning myself off of the coffee in preparation for my upcoming surgery. (Caffeine is one of the things not to be present when that is done.) Instead of a full travel mug morning and evening, I'm down to less than 1/4 of the same mug just once a day.
Terry, cutting the coffee has got to be the toughest part of your surgery and recovery. My consumption rate mirrors yours. Prayers for you and your doctor.
