Def very competitive this go round. Truthfully I didn't train at all, didn't hardly shoot either. I at least know at my zero fitness level I can still shoot and function on the course.

I have all great gear and have the right mindset to do the work my weak link is me. My back is junk but it's a crutch at times. I've got to get in better shape. Starting tomorrow I'm bout to lose some weight and get busy. Good wake up call.

Yeah, I hadn't been running any since Pecos in September, but my Krav classes and better diet have been paying off... I'm about 10 lbs. lighter than I was at the summer run and have much better endurance. The weak link are my legs... I couldn't run as much as I wanted to the last third of the course. My legs would start to cramp up if I pushed too hard. I was still in the 75th percentile of runners, which is definitely more competitive than I have been before. If I shot as good as I normally do I think I might have been in contention for a trophy. I'm really looking forward to the Brutal Goat in April and Pawnee in July.

My wife kinda put it in perspective for me, I was grumbling about not doing as well as I would have liked and she told me what do you expect, you did nothing to prepare. Which is true. Didn't run since July RnG, didn't shoot my rifle since then either and used my pistol at one IDPA match. Long story short, TRAIN!

I too would like to say good job to all the RO's and many thanks to the landowners and all the volunteers. This was my first event and I will definitely will be back. Was on the wait list but came out to see if I could get in, and did, but was a little freaked out at first when she assigned me the first slot in the 10K. Now I just need to work some on my shooting. Definitely some good, fast shooters in the crowd.

I use the Run n' Guns as motivation to keep training (both physically and with firearms). I train my body year around and I try to shoot as much as I can, including attending training courses a couple times a year. The Run n' Guns just give me a little more motivation to do, what I (and everyone else) should be doing in the first place. We need to keep the tip of the spear sharp, we owe it to ourselves, our families, our communities and our country!

I also the use the competitions as a way to test myself and my equipment, and they are lot of fun too. I've met new friends, and, as has been mentioned, everyone involved, from the match directors, their staff, the land owners and the competitors, are friendly, courteous and, even though from different backgrounds, share a common bond. I hope to be able to continue attending the matches for years to come.

What a great weekend! Thanks to John, Harold, Suzie McAlester, and so many of their friends and neighbors who make this possible. Thanks also to the ROs, of course - some of whom drove across Texas to be here! We have some great sponsors, and the runners kept good attitudes and stayed safe.

I should have mentioned at the end of the day - Brutal Goat coming up in April, Pawnee again in July, Pecos in September.

Time to start training for the next one - need more pistol practice!

She wasn't too bent out of shape about the run, but she does not think she can carry ammo, rifle and water and do it at the same pace.
Not sure yet if she will shoot the course next winter, but she is interested. Ill have to train her and buy her a nice AR :):):):):):)

I hear the Ruger Mini-14 shoots pretty good, and is light to boot. Stay in the Garand-inspired family!
