People who use 'peruse' when they mean skim.

"So what what did the article say about ______?"

"I dunno, I just perused it."

THAT'S NOT WHAT THAT MEANS IT MEANS LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU THINK IT MEANS WHO THE HELL TRICKED YOU

Auto-antonyms cans suck it, especially auto-antonyms that exist solely because of widespread misuse of a word. Second definition is incorrect.

I had a physics instructor in undergrad who would use the word "interpolate" instead of "extrapolate." I was all

I cannot stand people who write "could of" instead of "could have." I have probably already mentioned it on this forum, if not in this thread. I honestly don't give a **** it bears repeating.

And this isn't so much "a phrase" as "a class of people," but I hate people who read Chuck Palahniuk books like they're eye-opening life instruction manuals.
