I might be hunting some hogs in the near future. On a hog hunting thread (some internet source) an expert said if you place a feeder at your spot, and said feeder is set to go off a certain time of the day, that the hogs will arrive when they hear said feeder dispensing feed.

Dunno if that's true but the information was posted as an answer to "how to hunt hogs in daytime."

Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't. Hunting a food source for pigs definitely increases your odds of seeing pigs.

I’ve got a throw feeder running at one of my places here in east TX, and the pigs have been on a totally different schedule than my feeder. Of course, I don’t know how many other people have feeders in the area, so they might be eating acorns or eating at someone else’s feeder.

So I went archery hunting this morning, at least started to. At the gate I heard all kinds of commotion with hog’s squealing, grunting, etc. Needless to say, change of plans and left the Excalibur in the truck and took out the trusty Mossberg 940.

I heard some more after I was set up, then about 7:30 a sounder came in and with a slug first shot then 00 buck the next four, they were not happy. Needless to say freaked out piglets were running everywhere and I hope they keep running far away.

Gosh I hate pigs.
