Separation of church and state issue?
Mostly I was just curious. I have only lived in 3 places during voting time. I know there are several polling place in Western OK that are churches.
And I wonder why the separation of church and state deal hasn't come up? It comes up in a lot of other unexpected places. Of course I haven't seen any Who Would Jesus Vote For signs posted at mine.

Polling places tend to be community gathering places. Churches are important community gathering places, esp. in places like Oklahoma.

And there addresses don't change often, they usually have some fairly large rooms, everyone is accepted (in theory at least), a lot of the population is comfortable being in a church, most people are used to being quiet in church.

Because "separation of church and state" is not in the Constitution; "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" is, and voting in a church (which I currently do) establishes no religion that I'm aware of.

Yeah, my church lives at various locations in different precincts, so it would be difficult for us to vote as a group. But I did go into a church building locally for my polling place.

Get off my lawn.
Polling place is in a church. It is also in my church.

They had signs stating left line was for M-Z last names and right line was for A-L last names. The A-L line was much longer and the M-Z people were too stupid to realize they were standing in the wrong line. It really scared me that they were voting.
