Excellent last line report……….UPS is the safest shipment carrier……any long gun is legally shipped to yourself, handguns not sure about. If these guns are transferred to your ownership in HA, then transportation from/to yourself is legal.
When I have shipped guns in the past, I always used UPS, declared it a “ tool “, to not draw attention, to deter theft, & always insured the package for replacement value.
Just pray your tool doesn't fall out because you will not collect insurance

Bad and worse news. Bad news is I'm not inheriting 50ish long guns the next time I visit Hawaii (in 2025). Worse news is the widow of my collector friend died shortly after we visited her in October 2023. My wife sent her a text a few months ago and received a reply from her brother that she had passed away. My friend died of an untreated pituitary adenoma that was compressing her brain (based on the photo she showed me on her phone of a CAT scan and my medical training).

Sorry for your loss. Sorry about the guns too.

I’m not sure what happened to them, and I’d bet $100 she did not have a will. I think her brother lives in New York City and had not been to Hawaii in years. By the time I learned she had passed, her home was listed as sale pending on Zillow for $1.8 M and had been cleaned out. They are/were Chinese immigrants. She was a childless former housekeeper/nanny who married my long-deceased Army friend after his 1st wife and at least one child died in an automobile accident. None of her husband’s family, including the children she raised, who all live on the mainland, had visited her in many years.
