It doesn't matter where in the country you are, elitist shotgunners can be a pox on the general shooting community. I'm not saying all of them who shoot a Krieghoff or Perazzi are pretentious asses, but the odds spike significantly. :(

Now, let me get this straight. You're at Keesler for Air Traffic Control Tech School, and you actually have time to spend at the range?! My, my, my. Things have definitely changed since 1972! :D

That's what I was thinking.

Are you cross-training? I know straight out of Basic I didn't have time for shooting at Keesler. But then that was 30 years ago.

Been out of skeet for years, but it did have a few snobs when I was shooting registered targets.

When I was new to skeet, I happened to be in Dallas when the Dallas Gun Club was holding a small shoot. I won class C in the 12 with an old Mossberg pump. You would have thought I introduced a social disease . . . great fun.

Having said that, I have refereed at the NSSA World Shoot several times, and nearly all the shooters were very nice folks. I do recall a few jerks, but the vast majority were fine.

I guess you're not familiar with the "Fudd Syndrome" in the shooting sports arena. This syndrome is mostly notable in the attitudes of long gunners toward handgunners. It becomes more pronounced among those who use words like "Krieghof" or "Purdy" or "matched doubles", expecting the audience to revere the speaker's opinion above all others.

Or IDPA vs. USPSA ...

Or Cowboy Action shooters and the entire rest of the shooting community ...

It's out there ... Just ignore it and have fun in spite of them ... These are the same guys who tell all the girls their **** is 12 inches long ...

Some of the best fun I've had at matches has been people watching ... :selfangel

If I'm suddenly accosted by a thug and I don't have time for the 00, I'll give him the full Dick Cheney.
Even if all I've got is #8, somebody's gonna get his hair mussed.

$10,000 is the starter model on a Kreighoff shotgun. It's kinda like owning a porsche boxster or a Mercedes SLK and bragging about it. Not much to brag about.
