Let me say by being through this that Oklahoma DHS has got to be one of the most screwed up operations I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. After my divorce I had my child support payment taken out of my check and sent to her. Easier for me and she got her check when I got paid. A few years ago DHS stepped in and told DPS they had to send that money to them so they could make sure my ex got paid. I called DHS and they told me "thats just the way we do business". Im glad my support ends in a few months. If there was ever an Oklahoma agency that needs to be investigated...it is DHS.

I could agree, just had a "review" several months back - she requested it. I submitted all information. Based on what I found guesstimating her income (not their combined) my payment should go down especially with my situation. Never heard anything back from that. I suspect they told her it was going to go down (to about half of current) and gave her the option to cancel the review.

I have also had her call and complain as it was "late" or less than she thought it should be as though I am responsible for sending the payment or the amount. It comes directly from my check.

DHS needs serious help

Tell me about it. My grand daughter is almost 6 years old. I'd be shocked if my daughter has collected 1.5 years worth of support in total! And yes, DHS is the one collecting it.

They just got around to suspending his drivers license. Why? Because he's went over a year without DHS collecting anything. He jumps jobs about every 2 months, just so they can't keep up. So I guess if you keep a job just long enough to make 1 support payment every year you can slide for as long as you want. :pissed:

Sounds like what DHS did with my case also. My ex quit his job every time I garnished his check. Never got a dime of child support ... DHS did take him to court in Virginia ... The result of that little fiasco was his child support was REDUCED ... Yeah, in a state neither me nor my children had ever lived in or even visited DHS let a judge decide to reduce his payments. Not that he ever made those payments either.

HOWEVER, DHS gladly came out and investigated ME when I reported a daycare worker for beating another child (NOT one of mine) with a ruler ... and I don't mean spanking ... I mean BEATING ... saw it with my own eyes. You know what everyone's explanation was? Well, that was her child so it was okay ...

I know we have some DHS workers on this board and I don't want to imply that I think everyone who works for DHS is worthless but I can say that while I was "in the system" I didn't meet a single person who was willing to do anything other than give me a hard time.

Karma is great though ... the SOB is in a home now with drool running down his chin. Closed head injury, motorcycle accident. ******* could afford a brand spanking new motorcycle but wouldn't pay his child support.

Good luck Perrone. I had an ex many years ago who moved to CA and didn't report any of my payments while she was on welfare out there. Long story short, when I went to buy a house, the mortgage company told me that CA had an open child support case on me. I had to fax copies of all of my cancelled checks that I had sent to her (from years ago! good thing I keep everything) to prove that I had indeed paid her and clear my good name.

Hope it works easy for you to get cleared up. Just keep talking to them and hounding them to make it happen.

Yeah they say I owe over 6000 right now because I sent them proof that I transferred he money but they don't bother looking at it. There's a few payments she said I didn't pay but I didn't it's good times. I'm just waiting to have some cops come beat my door down and haul me off because the TX CSD don't feel like doing their job. They screwed my credit on top of her getting a car reposessed. GOTTA LOVE IT :D

I don't understand how a co-signer can be forced to pay for a car just because the main signer said "I don't wanna pay it."

I figured as much. Was hoping there might be a loophole :D

I was happy when they sent it to collections because those guys are good to deal with, at least the guy I spoke with anyway. I'm paying $100/mo for 14,000 owed. Beat's the $400/mo USAA wanted.

Gotta love child support. So much I want to say but it all runs together because I am too bitter about having to pay. My main issue is that it makes it almost impossible for the non custodial parent to get ahead or to live anywhere near the standard of living of the custodial parent. After a divorce child support is almost a punishment. If child support was not the way it is more people would try and work out the issues that lead to a 50% divorce rate. Or if you file for divorce because of irreconcilable differences, a.k.a I just don't love you anymore, you should not be allowed to have custody or child support for the first couple of years. Right now you can get rid of the one you are not in love with, and get tax free money all at once.

Dont get me wrong in many many cases people need the money I understand that. It is hard to understand a system in which I can only afford to live in an 800sq ft house in North Tulsa and my wife and son live in a 1600sq ft condo in San Diego and still have plenty of money to travel, do what they want.

Keep the brain zipped up...This would work wonders.

When my hormones decided to go off the chart in highschool and college, I decided sports, hunting and fishing were the cure. It worked. Kids came along after I was married, but I'll be damned if I didn't end up paying child support anyway. The decision to have children was mine and now ex.

Oh, BTW, Oklahoma Child Support Division is akin to the SS. No oversight and they are NEVER wrong. :fullauto:
