The drought is so deep that the electric fence ground rods are no longer grounding. This was pointed out to me by our youngest calf. He's quite enjoying himself though, grazing the yard and the new critters he can now come in contact with.
Sounds like a serious ground rod driven deep into the ground is in order. Pull the rod in and out on the way down and add saltwater to make a slurry in the hole, then tamp in. Increases the conductivity of the soil. I've done that for years in the industrial environment. Here is why it works.

Spent most of the day running, but it puts us in a better prepared situation. Picked up a heavy wood stove with some piping. Came home and unloaded and off again for a Hobart 1712E slicer. We recieved good deals on both. Don't know if we needed an automatic slicer but it sure does put a smile on my face.
Needs a little spit and polish but functions nicely. The auto can be disengaged and run in manual. It is missing the sharpener so I'll have to shop for one.

Brisket is $2.99 a lb at our local Anthony's so I grabbed 2, 1 was downsized to 3 pieces and the other is being made into ground beef. To the best of my knowledge you can't find hamburger for $2.99 lb now.

We have a few backyard chickens inherited from the neighbors and high school FFA-focused biology classes. The last additions were two mystery-chicks from school. My kids heard rumors the chickens were “fancy” and laid red eggs. I estimate they were hatched in mid-May and are, thus, about 5.5 months old. There have been no red eggs yet, or crowing. I think they are Black Copper Marans (BCM) and they could start laying eggs at any time. I think they are pretty girls, and likely not cockerels, as BCM roosters are adorned with striking saddle feathers (based on internet pictures). What do you think hen or rooster? That’s all I have until the lemons, limes, grapefruit, and oranges in the background ripen. We do still have some Mexican limes from this year.

What we don't like seeing above. Man it was crazy busy in the sky today. Almost close tolerance busy. Let me grab my tinfoil, I sure hope those vapor trails don't contain any evil elements.
