Speaking of whacking things, I believe your finger would appreciate being moved out of the whacking part in the future LOL!
I frame/remodel for a living and have had a few of those nail jobs LOL.
Do you know about the hot needle through the nail to relieve the pressure?

Here, but occasionally There.
Decided I needed a holder that’d hold three steel stamps so I could whack em in a decent line. View attachment 151457

From the looks of that fingernail, it appears you didn't do too well with testing that stamp at some point.

Way back in my early years (early 1970), I worked for about 3 days as a carpenter's assistant in building a house. Good thing another job came along because I "ran out of nails."

I whacked that finger with a hammer a few weeks ago while I was laying under a feedtruck “workin” on it. Then about 4 mins later in a fit of rage I had the kubota rtv hooked to broke down feedtruck with a 30’ jerkrope. I decided I needed to get feedtruck to better location to work on it. I hollered to the fella that was gonna steer the truck “Here we go” and I floored kubota. Welllllll....I guess since there was a pause between me hollerin and the jerk rope getting tight, the fella had his foot on the brake. The truck did come to me but not until my head had gone thru the plexiglass windshield. A little blood spittin and cleaning the battery cables on truck got her goin. Then when I got done feeding I went home and shaved before goin to doc to get my mouth sewn up. That all happened the day after I hauled my foreman to doc with a heart attack.
Yessir Okierider, hot needle, lil drill bit or a hot stick on the stick welder. That one really gets things flowing. It’ll change your life once ya let that pressure off. This particular finger was treated by the doc cuz she seemed like she wanted to show off some fancy tool. Hell, it looked identical to a battery powdered hot cutter I use for braided fishing line. IDENTICAL!! Can you believe she threw that sonofagun in the biohazard trash thing on the wall after she used it on me?! I said, hey I’ll take that! She said I’m sorry I can’t do that. Then I mumbled a bunch of crap about this being such a wasteful country. Next mashed finger, I should have about a week til the next one, I’m gonna try my braided fishin line cutter.

Lol, y'all just ain't hittin it hard enough. :D

Framing my shop doors in the early '80s, I was holding two 2"x4"s at a 90 degree angle with my left hand while hammering in a 16 penny nail with the other.

I hit my left thumb and busted the whole end of it open, from about halfway up the nail all around to about the same place on the other side.

The only good thing was that it didn't have a drainage problem...

Looks like he’s dun got a hole drilled through that nail. I usually use a 1/16 drill bit and just spin it with my fingers

June, 2007, when I pulverized my left hip on a murdersickle, I got really well acquainted with the folks at the OU Medical Center trauma unit. I don't remember portions of it because of really good drugs ... some I had never heard of before or since. They decided they had to put that left leg in traction because I kept twisting that hip out of joint. How do they do that? Well, they put a pin in your leg above the knee to hang a weight (kinda' like a sand bag). How do they do that? Well, they've got this Black & Decker cordless drill (purple) with about an 1/8" drill bit ("pin") and they drill right through that bone above your knee (remember them really good drugs?). Seems to me that "pin" musta' been about 12-inches long. I figured that purple color musta' meant it was reserved for medical use only. IDK. They sent two interns or residents or whatever they call them, into my room to take care of this little task. They described what they were about to do and my loving wife, who had remained by my side every minute they would allow, said "You're gonna' do that right here?" Yes, ma'am. "Right now?" Yes, ma'am. She left that hospital room so fast she left a con trail. Them two young fellers deadened up my leg in preparation and, holding that purple B&D cordless drill, one of them told the other "You know they throw these things away after a single use?" So I says (remember the drugs?), "Well then, you just throw the damn thing in my bag sitting right there on that ledge!" And the young feller says, "I can do that, but we gotta' turn the battery pack back in." Well, damn. Just keep it then. I remember that drill bit starting into my leg. Don't have any idea what happened right after that. Don't like purple.

MMMHHHMMM, pictures or I say it did not happen ! I mean you said you were on drugs and all and the story sounds like it is suspect. Black and Decker .............. pretty sure the OU medical center can afford something a little better than that, at least Ryobi LOL.

I made a collet rack so I could keep them in my toolbox away from dust and moisture.
