I haven't been to the Admiral location in years. Last time I went was the closest I've ever come to pulling my CCW.

Long story short, suffice to say five young fellas who had an affinity for the color red thought they were going to roll me in the parking lot.

At 3 in the afternoon.

I stopped going there.

I wish I could convince everyone to stop shopping at wally world for 1 day, then 1 week, then 1 month....

Can you imagine if every walmart store in America announced it would be closed for one day, black Friday would look like a cake walk compared to what everyone knowing they couldn't go to walmart 1 day.

Maybe I'm completely alone in it, but I like WalMart... It's the small business American dream that conquered the world.

A few years back I worked at the Super Center in Durant for a year. It gave me a new perspective on people; I began meeting some of the nicest people in the world - mainly Walmart shoppers. I wasn't used to people being polite and it really threw me for a loop. The employees were from a huge background of different job experiences. It was all very interesting. Walmart was very inflexible, though - at least the one in Durant was. It was run along military lines and that could get ridiculous. For example, everyone had to be dressed the same. Now, that makes sense, but I worked in Produce and had to spend a lot of time in the enormous refrigerator, and we would wear jackets in there. Well, Assistant Managers began telling us we couldn't wear jackets in there because we would be out of compliance with the dress code. Now, the Assistant Managers could be fired at the drop of a hat. They had mortgages to pay, kids to put through college, and they did what the unit manager told them to do. I gave my two week notice and went back into health care. But overall I have a positive opinion about my experiences working at the Walmart in Durant.

What exactly were you trying to prove? I already said they had a theft problem. I do believe I even went so far as to say I have seen police taking people out in cuffs often. Put a store in a low income area and you have a high theft rate. Sure this isn't a surprise to Walmart.

My comments were that the store wasn't a cesspool of humans like some on this forum and other news sites have eluded to. Some of you act like you can't walk to the door without fear of being carjacked or robbed.

You don't understand as you can get one in the hip there.

Used to be an iga in okc that everyone that came into the jail from had a medical release. Didn't realize why until I walked in to grab some stuff one night and watched them beat a thiefs a$$. No warning, no option to surrender, just sucked punched him and did a little dance on him. I asked about it later and was told that it was policy, and cut down on repeat offenders...

My theory is that it is tied to employee efforts to unionize and theyre shutting down the stores with the most pro union activity. Just a hunch.

Ive shopped at the Admiral WM store manymany times, and alot of times it was at 3am or later. Ive seen that store change alot over the years and guess I was in there so much I didnt notice the decline. Shoppers there used to be mostly mid to low income whites and blacks, then the latinos arrived, then later it was just one big mix of peoples. Been alot of gang shootouts in that parking lot- one night it was even the Asian gangs shooting it out out there in the parking lot. Ive seen rival 'gangsters' walking past each other inside the store throwing signs and snicker to myself how ghay that gang shite looks. And I wasnt always carrying when there either, especially if Im in town working at a club doing sound or tech work for a band knowing I might have a beverage or three, most times all I have had on me are just my anger issues my fists and a knife, which has got me by just fine in life before ever getting a CC permit or even before I ever thought about being able to get a permit.

I was walking up to the front door there one Friday night really late and as I got close to the door this small older white woman came up to me out of nowhere and asked me if I would walk her to her car. I said sure, no problem. But, as we were walking along I was wondering why she picked me other than I was the only near whiteish looking dude around at the time. Hell, maybe Ill be the one to rob her. Im tattoed neck to ankle, long hair stuffed under an always on backwards ballcap, dressed that night in my usual, what my wife calls my 'prison issue' look. So when we got to her car and I made sure she was in and safe she tries to give me 5 bucks. I said no thank you and she called me a good boy. Lolll. Whatever. Ya, guess that was my boyscout merit badge moment...

Things dont always happen at the 'worst' Walmarts tho. The WM at 68th and Memorial, they just found a dead guy who they think was a transient had crawled in the back of his SUV to sleep and died in his car. He was there for a MONTH the cops have said. Someone did call the car in weeks ago but when they came they just walked around it and said everything looked ok and left. He parked where employees usually park way out west parking lot so guess he just went unnoticed. I was in and out of there several times that month. I remember when I was a kid and my dad was the local wrecker guy he hauled in a Corvette once that a woman had died in to our body shop. Man that car stunk.
