What I have done is just use a fired case and put in a new bullet without putting in any powder leaving the fired primer in place.
With the 9mm being a tapered crimp, I would think one would have to resize the case first? What I have done is just use a fired case and put in a new bullet without putting in any powder leaving the fired primer in place.
Good to know, thanks. The way a primer is constructed with an internal anvil, it needs to be struck by the firing pin from the outside to generate the pressure that will ignite the primer material. Pressing one out from the inside would not generate the pressure to ignite the primer.
Remove the bullet with an inertia bullet puller or some other method. As already mentioned, use the deprimer on the press - slowly. Then just choot it. Resize and reseat the bullet. I've deprimed cases a 1/2 dozen times this way and never had a problem.
Thanks again guys, but (as mentioned) I've decided to just stay with live rounds.
