I am planning on going to church with you tomorrow, Don't give me any roaches to take home!!!!

HAHA! Not likely.

As far as how good of a deal, I guess that remains to be seen, depending on what I put into it. But I paid about 1/3rd of it's purchase price, and that was the "years ago" price. It's a Browning safe, one of the 25 ish gun ones. If it's an easy clean up, I got a good deal, if it's a tough one, probably still a good deal.

Dust it liberally with 20 Mule Team Borax. A couple of bucks for a box at Walmart. I use it for bug control in a shed outside. It kills anything with an exoskeleton and is safe around human people, including their rug-rat offspring, and their non-human warm blooded mammalian pets.

If you have time and want something less toxic to you, try Roach Ridd. Its main ingredient is boric acid powder, which is highly toxic to insects and other arthropods, but, in the quantities required for this job, is harmless to humans and pets. It won't kill the eggs (they can't ingest it), so it'll take time, but it'll work.

+1 on the boric acid powder. We spent 9 weeks in a rental house years ago, and the fridge the owner moved in for us was infested with roaches. Liberal use of boric acid powder eliminated them within weeks. Being an acid/ low pH, maybe not a good thing to leave int the cracks and corners of a gunsafe if humidity is ever a problem. Easy enough to vaccum out after a month or so.

I actually work in the bug business. Bomb it if you want to. Take the carpet out and clean it, really well. Store it for a couple of weeks. By storing it, you will starve out any remaining bugs as long as there is nothing in the storage area for them to eat. They will eat each other for a while, but with a really good cleaning there won't be many left. If you know someone in the business ask them if they can give it a shot of IGR (insect growth inhibitor) before you store it. That will take care of anything you may miss too. Cleaning in the #1 way to get rid of the little fellers.
