One of my litmus tests for contractors is looking at their truck. If they show up in a dingy white F150 single cab they instantly start off with more credibility than someone driving a bullcrap lifted bro-dozer. It's the same thing as looking at pretty casinos --- they didn't build them on winners.
I understand what you are saying but feel just the opposite. My thought process is that if I'm hiring a contractor to come to my home and I'm paying them good hard earned money to do a remodel, addition or other larger project and they show up in a beater truck, or completely messy and unorganized truck bed with trash and debris all in it then I get the impression his works will mirror his vehicle. A contractor that shows up in a nice clean and organized work truck/vehicle that's organized and outfitted well that tells me he if he takes pride in his vehicle chances he takes the same pride in his work. Dude with the dirty, unorganized beater, not so much.

I mean as compared to a dude showing up having taken so much money from customers that they can burn it on a 100k pavement princess? I mean, I'd rather the dude (or dudette in some cases) looking like they have a purpose vehicle rather than a show off one that got paid for by having taken so much extra from customer pockets that they apparently (per another post in thread) "had" to offload it for tax reasons.

ABest Roofing. Probably won’t be a cheap date, but they are one of two roofing contractors recommended to be by a good friend that’s been a general contractor for 50+ years. He won’t recommended anyone to his customers that doesn’t do good quality work. Anytime he’s found an issue due to installation, he’s never had a problem getting it corrected.

ABest employs their own roofing crews and they crews are trained by the roofing material manufactures to install the products correctly, not take shortcuts that can affect the longevity of the roof. They also have someone you can speak to that’s running the job the day of work. I don’t know that other companies do that. I think that most of the other ones just sell you a roof and use a sub-contractor to do the installation.

They’ve been around for a long time and they also don’t drive around in jacked up diesel trucks, if that makes any difference.

Well my insurance company is..... not me though. :D
Common thing I have noticed, none of them want to do a cash bid roof replacement, had 1 contractor turn around and start walking off when I told him I wasn't using the insurance.
They all want that sweet extra 10K from the insurance or they don't want to do the job.

Pair that up with why insurance rates keep going up in Oklahoma.
