Do you favor hiring more IRS employees "boots on the ground" to enforce those laws and collect those "unpaid taxes"?

No I favor shutting down some of the useless or over duplicated government agencies and offering the employees a choice of retraining for the IRS jobs or finding a job in the private sector.

As for the Ron Paul derangement syndrome, it is easy to understand since the old fool has been deranged for years. Some good ideas topped off with a whole lot of lies and paranoia. All eaten up by his personal cult followers that should know better.

It is a parents responsibility to take care of their own child/children. If the parents in any particular school district want any particular security measures in place, then they need to make that clear to the local school administration or school board. As public institutions, the people working in the schools work for the parents, right?

Keep the control locally, and any problems that might crop up can be resolved locally as well.

For the record, we do homeschool, but have no ill will towards parents who choose to have somebody else be responsible for their child's education/safety/etc. I just think we have to put a stop to more federal involvement.

Your local school district has no authority to place armed guards on campus.

Cedar Creek

That's not entirely true. Every school district in the State of Oklahoma has the ability to start their own campus police department. That's a state statute. It even spells out what their jurisdictional limits are. My first cop job was with Putnam City Campus Police back in 1976 just a few years after they were formed by the school district.

The thread title is misleading. RickN is putting out a spin just like the liberals do. RP did not say no to school security, he simply said he was against government intrusion in the subject. What if he supported teachers carrying handguns..would he still be "against school security"?

They could cover the cost easily by just cutting a small portion of wasteful spending and I think cops should be in addition to armed teachers.

1) That we can not afford it. We can by just cutting a tiny portion of government waste.
2) That having armed police in schools is some how a bad thing. We have them in many other places why not protecting our most helpless?

For the record, one of the things I dislike most about our government is that they pass tons of laws but NEVER hire enough boots on the ground to enforce them. Just one example, "Lets raise taxes on the rich", but there are billions in unpaid taxes out there already.

Ronald Reagan's favorite quip:

"Government isn't the solution to the problem. Government IS the problem".

You've come a long long way since then Rick.
