Actually they were, not the cheap particle board of today.I can remember the drills at school and being told to get under our desks.....I guess desks were made a lot better back then.

The ships are a hunter killer sub, a frigate and support ships in case one breaks down.. Only thing dangerous is the frigate is a newer class that can fire hyper-sonic missiles. Oops, the sub is claimed to be able to fire them too.

We had a high school janitor (old WWII veteran) that stated one day that if the Ruskies ever launched nuclear missiles, he was going to stand in one of the schools metal trash cans that were placed in each room. He stated that no one seemed to be able to hit those anyway.
