I am going to be upgrading pretty soon, and can't decide between the Iphone 4 or the Samsung Captivate.

I am currently own a Iphone 3g, and have got to mess with the 4 a little, but haven't had a chance to check out the captivate yet. I would like to get some opinions from people that have had experiences with both. I would also like to know the reason you chose that phone.

Ready.....discuss.

Is it really "hacking" if it's open source?

Just last week I picked up a captivate, and it's my first smartphone. Seems well enough, but there are a few things I wish were different. For instance, I can't, or at least I haven't figured out how to copy a photo URL to post in the forums from my picassa.

Anybody know how?

I think it all comes down to whether you are a gadget techno-nerd or not. For those who like to tinker with their phone and "hack" it and do all those things, no question, the iPhone is NOT for you. If you simply want a very easy to use phone, with a great screen, takes great pictures, and you can check your email, surf the web, and use as an iPod, then the iPhone is the easy choice. Just don't get the Samsung because you hear it has more possible capabilities than the iPhone. If you're not already into doing all that, you won't take advantage of it, and will probably just get frustrated with the phone.

I went from an Iphone 3G to a captivate and I love it.
I can change the battery in 20 seconds if I want to.
I can buy insurance for $4.99 per month.
I can upgrade my memory if I want to .
I can play any video file I want without having to convert it to an MP4.

I am very very happy.

You just answered one of the questions I had....I was wondering about insurance.

The more I research, the more I am leaning towards the Captivate.
