So I never really go to savage because well I think they are an extreme ripoff, but today I happened to stop in there after work and once again realized I was never going to go back.

Pmags 69.99
20 round gi mags were 39.99
CCI 22lr SS HP was 24.99 per 100
Wolf .223 was 14.99 per 20

Why has a place such as this been around for as long as they have? Was in there and a man was filling out paper work on what looked to be an XDM for 750 + tax.

I know most local business have upped their prices a little, but they have by far been the highest out of them all.

Rant off...

I guess, they were real pricks about it. I asked if they had any ar 15 mags and they said, "Depends on how many you want." I said, "That depends on your price" after about 5 minutes of the kid holding a conniving little smirk across his face and me walking out he finally told me the price.

The owner is a nice guy to talk to about current events and stuff, but I bought a couple things from them and thought I was getting a good price as compared to say Bass Pro or other retail places and later researched and saw I paid about 50 dollars OVER MSRP for each one. Same items would ahve been probably 75-100 dollar cheaper at H&H or say Academy (if they had the exact items). There is something to be said about convenience though, but I will not buy there again...I even called to complain and they told me they had to make money and that they could not buy guns as cheap as larger gun stores and they did not buy direct from the manufacturers...but to sell above MSRP seems like gouging to me...Yes, they are a rip off but still in business so I suspect a lot of people buy there due to selection and in-stock, or just no clue like me LOL.

You know, in the electrical trade I can charge what I feel like charging. Now I have morals and refuse to price gouge every since customer that comes to me with a problem that needs fixed. I feel I charge fair prices and do the best work that I can do at all times. I will never price gouge someone who has an emergency such as losing their electricity and lost their furnace in the winter. I would charge them the same price as I would every other day.

When everyone was in the buying generator craze I did not make my price higher just because everyone was needing service / installations. Seems that these places should be held to the same standard as every other business. I guess they have the right to charge what the want, but they are really sticking it to local customers.

+++ this spot on. I bought a bolt rifle from them about a year and half ago and was able to negotiate a great deal. Stand up guys to deal with IMHO. Don't hate the players hate the game.

Well I had no idea buying a gun was like buying a car...that won't work at Academy, Wal-mart or Bass Pro and I have been in there plenty when I lived near there and never heard anyone haggling on the price...I wish I'd have known.

As for the gouging goes...the problem with buying frenzies is that as a vendor you never know who is buying from you to then go re-sell and make a profit off your back...raising the price when demand goes up is how normal economics works if I recall, and it prevents the opportunists and squatters...BUT, it hurts everyone else...it sux
