I use one at work to monitor the field stuff from the plant I operate. Learned about it in school (gots me a degree in instrumentation and electrical electronics at Okmulgee) and we created a small system in the lab setting. Currently where I'm working we have a contract crew installing a fancy new Foxboro DCS control system. This is going to be a MAJOR upgrade from our super outdated Texas Instrument PLC (late 1970s I think) control with Labview.

Anyone in the SCADA field looking for a position? The company I work for has an opening and a SCADA Analyst. Send me your resume or PM for details. We are looking for someone with a technical background and preferred oil and gas experience along with SCADA and Automation.

I've been a SCADA analyst for most of the last 20+ years, on both gas and refined products pipelines, mostly on Telvent systems. You're about 6 weeks late with your help wanted post. I was looking for months for a job in OKC and finally found one. You're right that it is a bit of a niche career. Not that many jobs, not that many people who are experienced at it. I like it, though.

Dang, that's too bad. Good luck, hope your new position works out for you.

Ours are mainly ABB\Totalflow but one of our regions has a mix of stuff: Thermo Fisher, SICK, ABB, etc.

We have a few (no more than 20) Totalflows. Like I said, 95% are probably Fisher.

I do a lot of Scada systems... some netbiter... some ABB totalflow... some custom sbc's (arm/linux). Mostly oil & gas, some landfill flares.
